2011 Anime Conventions: COSPLAYING!

Hey everyone!

I’ve decided to do a cosplay, anime and manga convention post since Mini Animania is coming up soon (AUSTRALIA wise; dates listed below). 

Well anyways, for those new to cosplay, cosplay is short for cos(tume) play. A cosplay can be from a manga, anime, game, TV show, book, depending on what/who you like. There also cosplay competitions which you can enter, each with its own difficulty level (like any other comp). For example, World Cosplay Summit (WCS), Madman Nationals and SMASH! (Sydney Manga Anime Show). You can also perform skits (mini plays) though it’s kind of a different competition/category since you win a separate prize for it.

However, if you do decide to enter these competitions, judges will mark you based on the following:

Accuracy: How accurate your costume is.

Difficulty: How difficult the costume is.

For skits:

In-character: How well you can act as your character.

*NOTE: ONE MUST ALWAYS ASK THE COSPLAYER FOR PERMISSION TO TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS*

At these cosplay/anime/manga conventions, there are also stalls where you can buy merchandise (e.g. figures, shirts, bootlegs), vendors and various other things (depending on which and what kind of convention you go to).
