Here it is: another Madhouse x Marvel Comics collaboration – X-Men. To be honest, I’ve never liked it when a western comic is reproduced as an anime, with past projects such as Iron Man and Wolverine, but heck I’ll give this one a try. Much to my surprise, this is actually a pretty good anime to although people seem to hate it very much.
The story begins with Jean Grey (Omega-class psychic) being manipulated by a group called Inner Circle, lead by the mutant Mastermind, to massacre her teammates and lover Scott Summers a.k.a Cyclops. Much to our dismay, Cyclops runs into Phoenix, only to be lifted by her telepathic powers and having a telepathic conversation (Gundam Seed style)…
Phoenix ends up sacrificing herself though she wanted Cyclops to kill her. The story shifts to after the incident where Xavier Institute is no longer functional and everyone has gone their own way.
In another place, somewhere in Japan, a mutant has been kidnapped!
Thus Professor X re-summons his teammates so that the X-Men will go save the kidnapped girl, whose name is Hisako.
Meanwhile, Ororo Munroe a.k.a Storm is having a nice sail on a luxury boat but is attacked by Pirates. All is well as she saves the day.
Cyclops, who refuses to accept the fact that Jean Grey is dead, lives at the site where they fought her. His hair is long due to depression.
And as for Beast, he’s become a lecturer at university with an experimented talking squid! (No, it’s not Ika Musume) He, along with the others, are summoned by Charles a.k.a Professor X so he leaves the squid to take over.
Wolverine is at the airport, held for inspection at the metal detector thanks to the metal found in his body. He had planned to go to Madripoor but changes course to New York instead.
After discussing matter with Professor X, everyone accepts the mission to go save Hisako, but not without Cyclops. So Wolverine and Storm attempt to fetch the guy but talking is useless. Wolverine then provokes Cyclops by saying that Jean will be sad if she were to see the current him, thus getting shot by Cyclop’s red beam. Luckily for Wolverine, he’s rapid healing abilities kick in. The two males prepare for a fight but are eventually stopped by Storm. Wolverine and Storm leave the guy to think alone.
After Wolverine and Jean leave, Cyclops begins to have flashbacks of the times when his lover was still alive. He remembers moments of when they were on the beach, talking about the starlight and Jean saying that she wanted to be that light. The flashback ends with the two embracing one another.

wait isn’t there should be more than this? D:
maybe edited?
All I really read was a long summary. Did you have some opinions at the end or something?
Oh X-Men. I don’t even want to delve into how the Japanese interpreted your story. I can’t even comprehend it myself sometimes. Although, I haven’t read many of the comics so that may be the reason.
