The most romantic but tragic beginning ever – all in just one bag of valentine chocolate cupcakes.
Shoving aside Kurumi’s recap the previous ep, Kimi Ni Todoke 2nd season at last moves onto to its actual storyline, and what better to do this with none other than February the 14th, Valentine’s Day.
Sawako is ofcourse, hand making hers. And omgawd, that’s so much chocolate. JUST LOOK AT ALL THAT CHOCOLATE!! She then realises though, that in Kazehaya’s share, she’s given more nuts and hearts (as in the toppings on the cupcakes). Insert a cute little fluff moment where Sawako goes all red saying that maybe she’s been subconsciously favouring him and the such. (Do recall the fact that she admitted to her crush on the guy in season one).
Valentine’s Day arrives the next day and Sawako hands out her chocolates (oh my, it’s a Santa Claus on valentines >:D) but hesitates with Kazehaya. We have these moments where Sawako witnesses girls giving Kazehaya lots of chocolate, but it turns out that Kazehaya’s only accepting obligatory chocolates and so is rejecting girls who approach him with ‘handmade chocolates’ (in Japan, the original definition of ‘handmade chocolates’ on Valentines day is the same as giving a confession).
It’s pretty much obvious that the guy’s only doing this cause he’s secretly hoping for chocolates from a certain someone. It’s even more so when Kazehaya sees that Ryuu and the others have all been given theirs by this certain someone.
After having a short chat with Pin (who’s ALSO gotten a chocolate from Sawako), Kazehaya’s JUST about to get his ultimate happiness when that bitch Kurumi interferes once again. Sawako, upon seeing the two and getting teased bullied by Kurumi, gives up all hope and runs away.
But not without catching the interest of Kento – a new character that’s to be introduced the next ep.
In the back of my mind, I was actually hoping that this would not happen at all really – that Sawako would in fact, just give her valentine choco to Kazehaya (like how sometimes anime producers would stray away from the actual manga plot). But then again, if that really happened, that would mean the rest of the series would pretty much have to change as well.
GRRRR. I still do not like this sort of ending. Not that it’s bad or anything, but still, it hurts my eyes if I cry too much you know? (Not that I actually did but I would’ve if they just tinged up the tragedy radar a tad bit more). But that’s not the issue here. The issue is THAT MY FRIDGE FULL OF FUNA HAS BEEN STOLEN BY A CERTAIN CAT HYBRID AKA AZU-NYAN/BAKA-NEKO. LOL no, no. That’s just me being random.
So I didn’t give a rating list last week, so here ya go ;)
Plot: 9.5/10 (It’s not everyday you get to see such a ending in a shoujo anime/manga)
Characters: 9.8/10 (KNT has got to be the most loveable shoujo anime of all time)
Graphics: 9.9/10 (Unique art all the way)
Music: 10/10!! (*inset fan girl scream*)
Overall ACTUAL first impression: 9/10
Wait- what? I thought graduation was only in SPRING. So there’s gonna be another timeskip?!
